Frugal Friday Fashion: Transitional Season

We LOVE fall! The crunch of leaves underfoot, the crisp feeling in the air, and of course all things pumpkin spice showing up in the stores--it's a great time of year! One of my favorite parts of autumn is pulling out sweaters and light jackets I haven't seen in months and layering them on top of my year-round pieces.

Layering is such a great way to add interest to an outfit by using classic pieces on top of one another with shine, texture, and sometimes pattern, too. It has the added benefit of taking you from chilly morning to warm afternoon in a snap. Layering well will keep you from sweating in your dry clean only wool sweater that seemed like a great idea at 8am, but seems like a poor choice when the temperature rises to 75 and sunny at lunch.

Our inspiration look for this week is a beautiful mixture of classic pieces in neutral colors with a dash of shine to keep things fresh!

There's a good chance you have most of these items in your closet already. Do you have a light grey sweater, darker grey skinny chinos, and a khaki trench coat? You can find funky jewelry like this at shops online like the one we have included below, or chain stores like Forever 21 and Zara. These affordable stores frequently have trendy pieces for a good discount when you don't want to make a big investment.

Check DSW and other discount stores for fun and shiny shoes. I think some nice metallic high heels would be great with this as well. Don't be afraid to mix your metallics! If it looks intentional, you can totally mix silver and gold and look extra chic.

Below are the links to the pieces we selected for recreating this look on a budget. We hope you enjoy this look as much as we do!
