Brunching in the City

After a busy holiday season from Christmas to New Year's Day, you've likely been cooking and baking your heart out for weeks on end. Now you are probably ready to settle in for a nice relaxing brunch with friends, cooked by someone else

Let's review some of the tastiest options for brunch around the city!

SUN IN MY BELLY, Decatur

Pimento cheese, y'all. I am pretty sure that's all that needs to be said. But in case you need more convincing, check out their menu here. The food is delicious and the interiors are light, cheerful, and feel like a cozy sunroom in a friend's home.

ROSEBUD, Morningside

This is a favorite spot for me and some friends who meet regularly for brunch. It has a really great patio, an excellent bloody mary (in my opinion, just about the only brunch beverage that matters), and a full menu of breakfast, lunch, and dinner options for whatever suits your fancy.

LADYBIRD, Old Fourth Ward

Ladybird is a retro style "Grove and Mess Hall" situated along the beltline so you can take a little walk after you eat to burn off some calories and enjoy the city views. They've got a great variety of brunch items from Southern favorites, to Tex Mex treats, to burgers. Yum, yum, yum! Menu here.

REVOLUTION DOUGHNUTS & COFFEE, Decatur

For a quicker, simpler brunch, Revolution Doughnuts is where it's at! Their doughnuts are perfection! I have to admit I feel a little like I'm cheating on Krispy Kreme because their doughnuts are obviously also perfection--this is an apples and orange situation. It's best to go a bit earlier on holiday weekends as they are quite popular so the flavors you want most may be sold out if you go later in the morning. Here's the mouthwatering menu so you can plan which doughnut (or 3) you want to eat.

RIA'S BLUEBIRD, Grant Park

An Atlanta institution, Ria's Bluebird seems to always be packed, so you may want to go a bit earlier for brunch to avoid a wait. Famous for their pancakes (according to the New York Times, the best pancakes in the world!) and atmosphere; you're definitely going to love this place. Check out the menu here.

HOME GROWN, Reynoldstown

Everything here is delicious. Especially the zucchini pancakes, they are seasonal, but are a must try if they are on the menu while you are there. The menu is filled with local and fresh ingredients fixed up in a healthy way and with a price that cannot be beat.
