Valentine's Day is traditionally a day when a man showers his girlfriend or wife with flowers, candy, gifts, and plans a lovely date for the two of them to enjoy. I'm really thankful for my boyfriend who is always doing sweet and thoughtful things for me (including cleaning my car for me this weekend!) So, why shouldn't I show him how much I love him too by planning a special Valentine's date and giving him a break this year? He will probably be thrilled with the gesture and just enjoy having a date night he doesn't have to plan himself...but I still want flowers ;)
Here are some ideas for dates around Atlanta that are not just the typical dinner out in a crowded restaurant.
Does your boyfriend/husband like rap? If so, there's a Wale concert at the Tabernacle on Valentine's Day! Pretty unconventional date night for V-Day, and I would not say this is exactly romantic, but it would be fun and the Tabernacle never disappoints!
Afterwards, you could enjoy SkyView for a little romance, just keep in mind that this is probably what a lot of other couples are doing so you will want to purchase your tickets in advance.
Do you have a really active relationship? Then your man may like the Cupid's Undie Run! It may be a little chilly to be out running in your skivvies, but baring nearly everything as you race around the city could be a fun experience for you both and could show your adventurous and active guy that you care about the things he enjoys, not to mention that this race benefits a great cause!
For the more romantic fellas and those who appreciate classical music, The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra is holding a Valentine concert of love songs February 13-14 at 8:00pm. It's always fun to dress up for special occasions and midtown, where Woodruff Arts Center is located, is filled with great restaurants where you can enjoy a great meal or even just some dessert before or after the show.
Something that is always thoughtful and expresses love is cooking for the ones you love. Make it a special night at home with a fancy dinner and his favorite movie. This is a great excuse to wear a pretty apron and really impress him with your skills in the kitchen!
Valentine's Day is about the love you two share for one another, not about showering one or the other with flowers and candy. Show the one you love that he is special to you and let him know how much you care by taking the pressure off of him and plan a fun Valentine's date to remember for years to come.
